IKeyword, Realnames
discuss asset purchase
LONDON, UK, July 18 2002 The International Keyword
Corporation today
confirmed that it has been in discussions with Realnames
Corp. regarding the
purchase of a number of assets from the defunct keyword
provider.
Realnames had been the leading provider of Internet
Keyword navigation, but was
closed down earlier this month, after it's parent companies;
VeriSign and Microsoft,
withdrew support as the market moved towards the new
open International Keyword
standard.
While specific details of the purchases are not available,
it is known that a number of
Realnames global resolvers are under discussion. These
are geographically scattered
resolvers, mostly serving West Coast USA and the Pacific
region.
Both parties were keen to dismiss the myth that International
Keyword was picking
over the remains of its fallen competitor, stating the
negotiations were amicable.
